 Yoga Class Outline

  Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the most popular westernized yoga and can be taken as deeply as desired by the individual.   The word Hatha comes from the combination of two Sanskrit terms “ha” meaning sun and “tha” meaning moon.   Hatha also represents opposing energies, (yin-yang); hot and cold, male and female, positive and negative.

Hatha yoga is designed to balance mind and body via physical postures , known as “asanas”, breathing techniques, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation.  Asanas teach poise, balance and strength to improve the body’s physical health and clear the mind.

 Gentle Candlelight Hatha

An ambiance of candlelight sets the mood.  You'll stretch, relax and positively smile in this Gentle Candlelight Hatha yoga class designed to lift your spirit, mind and body.

Yoga as practiced in the west is almost exclusively Yang or muscular in nature. The Yin aspect of yoga uses postures that stretch connective tissue that we rarely touch on in more yang styles of yoga.  Yin postures are done with the muscles relaxed and are held a long time. This is because connective tissue does not respond the same way as muscle tissue does to brief or repetitive stress. Boring and passive? Not at all - the practice becomes challenging because of the duration of the pose.

7 Spiritual Laws of  Hatha Yoga

Beginners Welcome.  The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga is a consciousness-based Hatha Yoga practice infused with teachings from Dr. Deepak Chopra’s book, "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success". This yoga practice incorporates  5,000 year old Vedic wisdom. Yoga means union-union of environment, the senses, body, mind and soul.  Your Certified Instructor,  guides you through various yoga postures to experience body centered restful awareness which in turn allows you to settle down the mind into the field of pure silence and find the perfect way to move. It can be taken deeply or gently depending on the needs of the students.

Wise Yoga Classes - Hatha

Designed for those aged 40 plus, this Hatha Yoga class supports both men and women in creating a balanced lifestyle through inner, outer wisdom.  You’ll stretch, relax and enjoy the encouraging energy as you explore yoga poses designed for beginners, and those with experience.  Your certified instructor ensures you receive personalized yoga training that suits your needs in a respectful, welcoming environment.  Every class finishes with a relaxing meditation and Veracis Wellness signature cup of herbal tea and home baked ginger snap cookie.

 About Yoga

Yoga originated in Indian more than 5000 years ago, inspired by Hindu mythology and later influenced by Buddhism. There are many variations of yoga, to include Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Restorative and more.  Many people seek spirituality through their yoga practice, as a means to learn to meditate and achieve enlightenment, but it is not considered a religion.  Yoga, it can be said, is moving meditation.

Yoga is the philosophy of uniting the mind, body and spirit– to live in harmony with nature, people and the universe.  Yoga uses physical postures and breathing techniques to energize and clear energy channels while toning the physical body and enhancing relaxation.   Practicing yoga allows you to become stronger, more flexible, relaxed and connected while encouraging self awareness through body, mind and spirit consciousness.

 Where to Begin

We welcome adults at all levels and encourage the integration of spiritual consciousness, and healing, as we honour and respect each and every individual participating in our classes.  We humbly remind ourselves that our ‘ego free’ environment is generated from within.   Whether you're a beginner or advanced, you are welcome to participate in any of our yoga programs, as your instructor will direct you at your personal level.  However, we also offer introductory classes regularly.   If you are looking for a slower, deeper yoga, we suggest Restorative Yoga.
